James Chong is a Singaporean KyokushinRyu karate practitioner and instructor, and the son of Peter Chong, the pioneer of Kyokushin karate in Singapore. He is an active member of the International Karate Alliance KyokushinRyu and contributes to the development and promotion of KyokushinRyu alongside his brother Jackie Chong.
Martial arts training
[edit]James Chong trained in Kyokushin karate under the direct guidance of his father Peter Chong from an early age, grounding his practice in the full-contact tradition established through the lineage of Masutatsu Oyama. He attained the rank of 3rd dan under the SOKK and IKAK systems.
Role in IKAK
[edit]James Chong supports IKAK activities in Singapore and internationally, participating in seminars, training camps, and organizational events. Together with his brother Jackie Chong, he helps carry forward the KyokushinRyu tradition established by their father.
