The son of [[Peter Chong]], pioneer of Kyokushin karate in Singapore, he represents the second generation of KyokushinRyu leadership and plays a central role in the technical direction and international expansion of the organization. == Martial arts background == Jackie Chong grew up training under his father [[Peter Chong]] within the Singapore Oyama Karate-do Kyokushinkaikan (SOKK). Immersed in the tradition of full-contact Kyokushin from childhood, he developed a strong technical foundation in kihon, kata, and kumite, rooted in the teachings passed down from [[Masutatsu Oyama]]. == Leadership in IKAK == Following the founding of the International Karate Alliance KyokushinRyu, Jackie Chong assumed the role of Kancho and serves as the primary technical authority of the organization. IKAK Singapore operates under the leadership of Shihan Tham Boon Kit, guided by Kancho Jackie Chong. In this capacity, he oversees the standardization of syllabus, grading requirements, and tournament rules across IKAK's international membership. == Technical contributions == Kancho Jackie Chong is recognized for his emphasis on traditional Kyokushin values while maintaining rigorous and consistent standards across international branches. He regularly conducts seminars and grading examinations, traveling to IKAK branches worldwide including India, South Africa, Myanmar, Chile, Poland, and Bahrain. He has demonstrated tameshiwari including ice block breaking, a discipline that reflects the Kyokushin tradition of testing spirit and physical conditioning through breaking techniques. == International activity == In April 2025, Kancho Jackie Chong attended and presided over a junior tournament in Poland, followed by a seminar for black belt practitioners. In July 2025, he visited Bahrain for a seminar and attended the Kyokushin Bugakukai Nalin Dojo Abu Dhabi Graduation Ceremony. Under his leadership, IKAK has continued to host the KyokushinRyu World Tournament and other international competitions, promoting the spirit of Osu and the tradition of full-contact karate across the global KyokushinRyu network. == Family == Jackie Chong is the elder son of [[Peter Chong]]. His brother [[James Chong]] is also an active KyokushinRyu karate practitioner within IKAK. == See also == * [[Peter Chong]] * [[James Chong]] * [[Masutatsu Oyama]] * [[IKAK]] * [[KyokushinRyu]] * [[Tameshiwari]]
